This specimen was issued by Egypt as part of the F.A.O. series. Egypt issued an entire series of F.A.O. coins, ranging from five milliemes to one pound. The obverse features a female student researching agronomy. This type was accompanied by a similar ten milliemes and five piastres. The one pound denomination has typically been used for various commemorative issues.
