The first specimen was part of lot 34250 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), which sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Lot of Fifteen 2 Reales Coins, All different dates, average grade is Fine." This type was struck 1833-36 and normally encountered in Fine or lower. It is among the earliest coins struck in Ecuador.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: 1.55-1.85 g, 0.667 fine silver.
