This specimen was lot 4213 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,302 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DONAUWÖRTH, STADT Taler 1545, mit Titel Karls V. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Feiner Prägeglanz, vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Jürgen und Erika Schmidt, Bovenden. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 346, Osnabrück 2021, Nr. 183. (city of Dönauworth, thaler of 1545, struck in the name of Charles V. Rare in this quality, lustrous, extremely fine.)"
Donauwörth, now part of Bavaria, was formerly an imperial free city on the Danube. This thaler of 1543-48 is the only such from this locale. It comes with two digit (shown here) or four digit dates.
