Dominican Republic 1963 1/2 peso
This specimen was lot 71325 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. 1/2 Peso, 1963. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the Republic, this brilliant Gem is exceedingly lustrous and attractive. A hint of golden toning near the peripheries adds even further allure. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." This commemorative was the last silver issue of this denomination. It was accompanied by a centavo (KM 25), five centavos (KM 26), ten centavos (KM 27), twenty-five centavos (KM 28) and a peso (KM 30).
