Dietrichstein 1647 thaler Dav-3372
This specimen was lot 20234 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Dietrichstein. Taler, 1647. Sigismund Ludwig (1631-64). NGC AU-53. Most surviving examples of this type grade no better than Very Fine. A well made lightly toned coin with a nice strike and an abundance of remaining detail for the assigned grade. Areas of gunmetal blue toning are seen through parts of the fields and add significantly to the eye appeal of the piece." The count, a prince of the empire, issued thalers and ducats throughout his reign in several types. This issue of 1638, 1644 and 1647 is the most available.
