Dietrichstein 1647 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 1712 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$302 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Dietrichstein, Fürstentum, Gräfliche Linie Pulgau, Sigismund Ludwig von Wechselstätt, 1631-1664. Kreuzer 1647, Graz. Gutes sehr schön. (Austrian states, principality of Dietrichstein, Pulgau line, Sigismund Ludwig von Wechselstätt, 1631-64, kreuzer of 1647, Graz mint. Good very fine.)"
The princes of Dietrichstein were not territorial lords but servants to the emperor who were granted the mint right. Several thalers were struck in the seventeenth century, all rare. The SCWC lists all the thalers and ducats from this state but the only minor coin listed is a half kreuzer of 1650 (KM 5).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver or billon, this specimen 0.74 g.
