Dietrichstein 1646 thaler Dav-3374
This specimen was lot 4669 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHEN STANDESHERREN, DIETRICHSTEIN, GRAFSCHAFT, Sigismund Ludwig von Wechselstätt, 1631-1664. Reichstaler 1646, Graz. RR Feine Patina, winz. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön-vorzüglich/vorzüglich. (Austrian states, county of Dietrichstein, Sigismund Ludwig von Wechselstätt, 1631-44, thaler of 1646, Graz mint. Very rare, fine patina, edge defects, very fine to extremely fine.)"
The count, a prince of the empire, issued thalers and ducats throughout his reign in several types. This type was struck in 1646, 1651 and 1653. All dates are scarce.
