Sincona sale 33, lot 2109

This specimen was lot 2109 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Christian X. 1912-1947 2 Kroner 1924. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Denmark, Christian X, 1912-47, two kroner of 1924, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Altho Denmark was neutral in World War One, it was subject to the same higher prices for raw materials. The two kroner was converted to aluminum bronze in 1924 and struck to that standard until 1959. Despite the substantial mintage, this is listed as a rare date.

Recorded mintage: 1,138,000.

Specification: 13 g, aluminum bronze, 31 mm diameter, this specimen 13.39 g.

Catalog reference: KM 825.1; Hede 20.
