This specimen was lot 29629 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $411.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Christian IX Ore 1892-CS MS63 Brown NGC. The final date from the series, and one that asserts a lower mintage, with vivid chestnut coloration and full mint bloom. The impeccably-styled design elements are readily noticeable, even without the aid of magnification, and the overall allure of this piece is choice for the grade." This type was struck 1874-92 for Christian IX (1863-1906) as king of Denmark. It is common as a type but many of the dates are rare. This one is very scarce.
