This specimen was lot 10231 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2026), where it sold for €341.60 (about US$394). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Øre, 1888-CS. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IX. NGC MS-65 Brown. Unsurpassed in the NGC population census with two coins in the grade. Wonderful example of this gem øre coin. Attractive chocolate-brown color. From the L.E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1874-92 with initials CS and 1894, 1898-1904 with initials VBP (KM 792.2). This is an uncommon date.
