Denmark 1719-BH skilling
This specimen was lot 10338 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €168 (about US$175). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1719-BH. Holstein-Gottorp-Rendsborg. Frederik IV. NGC Unc Details--Bent. Variation with large monogram. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This one skilling was struck 1719-20 with large and small monograms at the Rendsborg mint in Holstein, now in Germany. We don't know why the king opened a mint there when he already had a mint in Gluckstadt. The SCWC notes one and twelve skilling and half and single ducats from there.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 0.76 g, 0.187 fine silver, 15.6 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-5; Hede-63; Sieg-58.2; Schou-14; Bruun-7491.
