Denmark 1718-BH 12 skilling
This specimen was lot 10227 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2027), where it sold for €89 (about US$103). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 12 Skilling, 1718-BH. Rendsborg Mint. Frederik IV. NGC AU-50. Nice condition with minimal wear, despite some corrosion and encrustations. From the L.E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)." This type was struck 1716-20 at the Rendsborg mint in Holstein, now in Germany. We don't know why the king opened a mint there when he already had a mint in Glückstadt. The SCWC notes one and twelve skilling and half and single ducats from there.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.89 g, 0.562 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-6; Hede-62; Sieg-59; Schou-5; Bruun-7467.
