SB225-10335r.jpg

This specimen was lot 10335 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €216 (about US$225). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 12 Skilling, 1716-BH. Holstein-Gottorp-Rendsborg. Frederik IV. NGC AU-58. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1716-20 at the Rendsborg mint in Holstein, now in Germany. We don't know why the king opened a mint there when he already had a mint in Gluckstadt. The SCWC notes one, two and twelve skilling and half and single ducats from there.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.89 g, 0.562 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-6; Hede-62; Sieg-59; Schou-8; Bruun-7453.
