from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10097

This specimen was lot 10097 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €125 (about US$130). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1611. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF-40. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck at Copenhagen 1603-13 and was worth 1/48 speciedaler. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
