This specimen was lot 74431 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. 5 Gulden, 1927. Berlin Mint. NGC AU-55. The second year in a RARE two-year series (this being the more difficult to obtain date), the present example displays some very light handling and some hints of toning, with great lustrous brilliance remaining in the protected areas." This type was issued 1923 and 1927 only and is scarce. Danzig, long part of Prussia and then Germany, was briefly independent 1919-39. Annexed by the Nazis, it fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Gdansk.

Recorded mintage: 160,000 plus proofs.
