This specimen was lot 4830 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $4,715. The catalog description[1] noted, "Dahomey. 25000 Francs, 1971. On 10th Anniversary of Independence. Three presidents. NGC graded Proof 65 Ultra Cameo." Dahomey was renamed the Republic of Benin in 1975. Gold 2,500, 5,000, 10,000 and 25,000 francs were issued in 1971, the only gold issues for that country.
