Steve Album sale 51, lot 810

This specimen was lot 810 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "CZECH REPUBLIC: AR 200 korun, 1997, specimen issue, 100th Anniversary of Production of "The Präsident" - The First Passenger Car in Central Europe, PCGS graded Specimen 69, RR." Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1992. Other 200 korun for 1997 include KM 27 (St. Adalbert), KM 28 (Amateur Athletic Union) and KM 29 (Na Slovanech-Emauzy Monastery). Wikipedia comments, "The Präsident was an automobile manufactured by the Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau-Fabriks-Gesellschaft (Nesselsdorf or NW), since 1919 Tatra, in 1897. It was the first practical, factory-produced petrol engine automobile built in Central and Eastern Europe."

Recorded mintage: 18,075 plus 2,996 proofs (4,381 later melted).

Specification: 13 g, 0.900 fine silver, 31 mm diameter, reeded edge.
