Czech Republic 1996 10000 korun
This specimen was lot 22142 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $5,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "CZECH REPUBLIC. 10000 Korun, 1996. Czech (Jablonec nad Nisou) Mint. NGC MS-67. An impressive example from the Bohemian Crown Series, this full ounce of gold delivers incredible details and no evidence of handing on the somewhat matte appearing surfaces. Only the most limited of marks are seen on the surfaces, with this example being only surpassed by one specimen on the NGC population report. A very elusive modern Czech issue, and one certain to be demanded by any completionist seeking to add to their numismatic holdings. From the Whytecliffe Collection." This type was struck in small numbers 1995-97. This NCLT honors the pragergroschen, an important coin of the late Middle Ages.
