This specimen was lot 1028 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "COSTA RICA, San José, gold 5 pesos, 1873 GW, denomination '5,' NGC UNC details / cleaned. Bold details with only the faintest of hairlines on fields, rich gold color, interesting vertical die-crack through 7 of date." This type was struck 1873 only along with another five pesos with the denomination spelled "CINCO PESOS".

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.06 g, 0.900 fine gold, .233 troy oz AGW.
