This specimen was lot 33802 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "Costa Rica: Republic gold 5 Pesos 1869-GW AU50 NGC. A wholesome piece of a very popular type, beautiful lager tone, and some meager visible wear that defines the grade." This type was struck 1867-70 and is noted as somewhat available in the SCWC.
Recorded mintage: 11,000.
Specification: 7.33 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.2064 troy oz AGW.
