Cordoba 1852 4 reales
This specimen was lot 1148 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $665.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ARGENTINA, Provincial Coinage. Cordoba. AR 4 Reales. Cordoba mint. Dated 1852. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Superb choice brilliant uncirculated, blast white. Highest graded. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, April 1998." This one year type nearly always comes weakly struck in the centers; this specimen is typical. The Cordoba mint issued silver coins in all denominations from ¼ real to the eight reales. Many varieties exist and some are abundant.
