Colombia 1924 2-1/2 pesos

This type was struck at Medellin 1924-29. It and the matching five pesos replaced the "minero" type issued 1913-19. This specimen was part of lot 40448 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Quartet of 2-1/2 Pesos, 1913-24. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details, MS-62, & MS-64 Gold Shields. Fr-111, 114, 116; KM-194, 200, 203. 4 pieces in lot. Each coin has bright and lustrous yellow-gold luster. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .117 troy oz AGW (same standard as half a British sovereign).
