This type was struck at Medellin 1924-29. It and the matching five pesos replaced the "minero" type issued 1913-19. This specimen was lot 40447 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1927 2 1/2 Pesos. Medellín mint. MS-66 (PCGS). An especially choice example. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins."

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .117 troy oz AGW (same standard as half a British sovereign).
