This type was struck at Medellin and Bogotá 1919-20. It and the accompanying five and ten pesos replaced the "minero" type issued 1913-19. The Medellin issues are mintmarked "A". This specimen was lot 123 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bogota, Colombia, 2-1/2 pesos, 1919. Mint State with no marks at all, traces of die-clashing on obverse."
Recorded mintage: 34,000.
Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .117 troy oz AGW (same standard as a British half sovereign), this specimen 4.01 grams.
