Sedwick sale 11, lot 1138

The specimen shown was lot 1138 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $103.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bogotá, Colombia, 5 centavos, 1881, encapsulated ANACS MS 62. Choice grade with excellent luster, the horn on the right not fully struck." The Bogotá mint struck five centavos 1875-85 and its product is listed fairly cheaply in the SCWC but, like many Colombian minors, is seldom seen in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 219,000.

Specification: 1.25 g, 0.666 fine silver, .026 troy oz ASW.
