Colombia 1879-B 2-1/2 centavos

The first specimen was lot 44379 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 2 1/2 Centavos, 1879. Bogota Mint. MS-65 (PCGS). None graded finer at PCGS. Lustrous and attractively toned. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This is from a type struck 1872-81 with reduced silver fineness from the Bogotá mint. The Bogotá mint also struck quarter décimos 1863-73 but switched to 2½ centavos for 1872-81. The Popayán mint stuck to quarter décimos until 1881.
