Colombia 1840/39-B RS real

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, part of lot 44098

This specimen was part of lot 44098 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $156. The catalog description^[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. A diverse trio of Bogotá Reales, all encapsulated by PCGS. Included are 1836-RS. Restrepo 153.16. EF-40; 1840/39-RS. EF Detail, cleaned; 1847. Restrepo 184.2. C countermark. G Detail, damage. (Total: 3 pieces). From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Bogotá 1837-46. This is a better date and exists only as the overdate.
