This example is a one real coin struck for REPUBLICA DE NUEVA GRANADA from 1837-1846 at the Bogotá mint. The initials RS correspond to the assayers. Nueva Granada was a Centralist Republic created upon the dissolution of Gran Colombia in 1830. The region held this name until 1858, when the Granadine Confederation was formed.
