This is one of a type struck at the Nuevo Reino mint 1789-1808 with the "standard bust" of Charles IV. This issue is among the more available two escudos of the colonial period. The specimen shown was lot 112 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $718.75. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bogotá, Colombia, bust 2 escudos, Charles IV, 1792JJ. Problem-free AU- with tiny spots of encrustation in crevices, slightly off-center strike, scarce type."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.7 grams.
