Sincona sale 73, lot 1539

This specimen was lot 1539 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 17,500 CHF (about US$22,516 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"COLOMBIA. Fernando VI. 1746-1759. 8 Escudos 1749 S, Santa Fe (Nuevo Reino). Assayer: Sebastian de Rivera. Wappen zwischen S/S - F/S. Äusserst selten. NGC AU58. Überdurchschnittlich gut ausgeprägt. (Colombia, Ferdinand VI, 1746-59, eight escudos of 1749, Santa Fe mint. Obverse: arms divide denomination and mintmark. Extremely rare, Extraordinarily well struck.)"
