This specimen was lot 2207 in Goldberg sale 91 (Los Angeles, June 2016), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Colombia. Cob 2 Escudos, 1713 (Bogotá) NGC MS62. Philip V. From the "1715 Fleet" shipwreck. With certificate. NGC graded MS-62." This type was issued from Bogotá 1701-13. Specimens with legible dates are worth double those without. This type comes without a mintmark or assayer initials. Many have been made into jewelry and sold as "pirate gold."
