Very rich gold color without luster, very bold full date with traces of 8/7 overdate, the full cross and shield also quite bold as is the denomination •II• to left, most of mintmark-assayer to right, small spot of extra gold (as made) above shield. On his certificate, Flemming calls this 'By far the finest known two escudos of the entire Cartagena RNE series 1626-29.' Most survivors lack legible dates and therefore many dates are not listed altho the Santa Fé mint probably operated continuously during that period.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
