This specimen was lot 44064 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1632-33)-C E. Cartagena Mint. Philip IV. PCGS EF-45. A VERY RARE cob issue from Cartagena. While the final digit of the date is illegible, the wide flan does enable clear displays of the denomination, mintmark, assayer, and first three date digits. Both the central shield and castles-and-lions exhibit unusually sharp detail for the type, with enticing rainbow iridescence hiding in the protected areas of the cross. From the S.P. Rutherford Collection." The type was struck 1627-31, 1643-51 along with undated examples. The Cartagena mint closed in 1635.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
