Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1058

This specimen was lot 1058 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHUR: Free Imperial City, AR 10 kreuzer, 1631, St. Luke facing right, a superb lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Dr. Robert A. Rosenfeld Collection." This type was struck 1629-37 in sufficient numbers that it lists in the SCWC as a fairly cheap coin. Chur, along with the rest of Switzerland, left the Empire in 1648 as part of the Treaty of Westphalia which ended the Thirty Years War. Below St. Luke on the reverse is the city arms, which feature a leaping ibex.
