This specimen was lot 42072 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $12,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elegantly Frosted and Flawless Gold Panda, CHINA. Gold 2000 Yuan (5 Ounces), 2010. Panda Series. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Featuring a great array of frosting imparted unto the devices, this stunning and exceptionally flawless example dazzles with an inordinate degree of resounding eye appeal." The one ounce panda was raised from 100 yuan to 500 yuan in 2000. Other 2000 yuan for the year include KM 1913, KM 1914, KM 1936 and KM 1948. The current bullion value (August 2024) is about $12,600.
