This specimen was lot 33774 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "China: People's Republic gold Panda 500 Yuan 2007 MS68 NGC. An ever-popular issue with prooflike, fully reflective fields and a visually appealing wide rim around the Temple of Heaven. AGW 0.9990 oz." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. Prior to 2001, the one ounce panda was denominated 100 yuan.
