Sincona sale 87, lot 2203

This specimen was lot 2203 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA, 200 Yuan 2007, Shanghai Mint. Panda. Uncirculated."

Other 200 yuan of 2007 included KM 1723 (year of the pig, trapezoidal), KM 1724 (year of the pig, scalloped) and KM 1862 (80th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army). The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. Prior to 2001, the half ounce panda was denominated fifty yuan.
