This specimen was part of lot 4028 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), which sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA (PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC): SET of 4 proof silvers, 1984, KM-98-101, all AR 5 yuan of the Terracotta Army series; all proofs with brilliant luster; set of 4 pieces." The terracotta army was discovered in 1974 by local farmers outside Xi'an, China. It is estimated that 8,000 figures were buried there for the mausoleum of emperor Qin Shi Huang c. 210-209 B.C.

Recorded mintage: 14,000 per the SCWC, 30,000 per Numista.

Specification: 22.22 g, 0.900 fine silver, 36 mm diameter, reeded edge.
