This specimen was lot 2778 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 35 Yuan, 1981. For the 70th Anniversary - 1911 Revolution. Statue of Sun Yat-sen. Reverse: Mausoleum. With original box of issue. NGC graded Proof 68 Ultra Cameo." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This early issue is scarce.
