The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1956 only. It was the first issue of this denomination since 1927, when a silver coin was struck. It is the last of its denomination and is worthless in all grades. The escudo superseded the peso in 1960, with one escudo = 1000 pesos.
Recorded mintage: 1,600,000.
Specification: 2.4 g, aluminum, 23.5 mm diameter.
