Chile 1920 20 centavos
This specimen was lot 1845 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2018), where it sold for $154.70. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, copper-nickel 20 centavos, 1920, NGC MS 64, finest and only known example in NGC census. Smooth fields with muted luster, faintly rainbow toned all over. NGC #4715670-003." Oscar Roty's defiant condor, first used in 1895, appeared on virtually all Chilean silver and copper-nickel coins until 1940. This type was struck in copper-nickel until 1929; this is the scarcest date. It superseded KM 151.3 (3 g, 0.400 fine silver, 21.5 mm, m. 4,189,000), which was struck 1907-09, 1913, 1919-20.
