This type was struck at Santiago, Chile, in 1919 only. It was accompanied by a similar one centavo (KM 161.2) and was the first time the denomination had been issued since 1882. It was not issued again. Billon five, ten and twenty centavos were struck 1919, soon to be superseded by copper-nickel coinage.
Recorded mintage: 147,000.
Specification: 3.5 g, copper, 21 mm diameter, plain edge.
