This specimen was lot 73744 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. Peso, 1917-So. Santiago Mint. PCGS MS-63. Lightly toned and softly lustrous, this Choice Peso delivers abundant wholesome eye appeal." This type was struck 1915 and 1917. It was superseded by KM 152.5, which was only 0.500 fine. Oscar Roty's defiant condor, first used in 1895, appeared on virtually all Chilean silver and copper-nickel coins until 1940.
