Chile 1868 10 pesos

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70384

This specimen was lot 70384 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $600. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CHILE. 10 Pesos, 1868-So. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Fr-45; KM-145. First year of type. Sharply struck, lustrous and attractive." This specimen was one of a series struck 1867-92 in Santiago, Chile. Two earlier types exist (KM 123 and KM 131), with slightly different designs for the arms and the standing Liberty. The SCWC does not give this date a premium.

Recorded mintage: 54,000.
