This specimen was lot 1081 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$510 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Republik 2 Escudos 1838. IJ-Santiago. Gutes sehr schön. (republic of Chile, two escudos of 1838, Santiago mint, Good very fine.)"
This scarce type was struck 1837-38 in small numbers and was succeeded by a standing liberty design (KM 102.1) 1839-45.
