This specimen was lot 74051 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 2 Reales, 1777-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles III. PCGS Genuine--Damage, AG Details. An EXCEEDINGLY RARE year with 7,000 pieces minted and approximately only 10 known. One single finer example hails from NGC in Fine Details. Steely gray toning pools around and acts to accentuate the legends." This type was issued from Santiago 1773-89 and is scarce.
