Ceylon 1910 50 cents

Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 76348

This specimen was lot 76348 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CEYLON. 50 Cents, 1910. London Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-63." Ceylon attained her independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka. This type was struck 1902-03 and 1910 and is common. It matched the Indian half rupee in weight but was only 0.800 fine.
