This specimen was lot 30226 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof 50 Cents 1913 PR66 NGC. Struck to pinpoint perfection with glossy, reflective surfaces that stand out beneath a sheath of attractive blended patina. A fully original premium Gem that showcases an enticing balance and rarity and eye-appeal." Ceylon attained her independence in 1948 after the British left India and is now known as Sri Lanka. This type was struck 1913-17. The superseding type was only 0.550 fine.

Recorded mintage: 400,000 plus proofs.
