Áureo y Calicó sale 347, lot 111

This specimen was lot 111 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €4,000 (about US$5,279 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Alfonso de Ávila (1465-1468). Sevilla. Dobla. Leones sin corona. Ligera doble acuñación. Ex Áureo & Calicó Selección 2013, nº 106. Muy rara y más con el nombre del rey en anverso y reverso. MBC+. (kingdom of Castile and Leon, Alfonso of Avila, 1465-68, gold dobla, Seville mint. Lions without crowns, slightly double struck, very rare with the king's name on obverse and reverse. Choice very fine.)"

The gold coinage of Spain prior to the rule of the Catholic Kings is rare. Friedberg notes this type for Burgos, Avila, Seville and Toledo. A half dobla also exists.
