Canada 2011 200 dollars KM-1074
This specimen was part of lot 40063 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), which sold for $14,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Impressive Collection of $200 Commemorative Issues. CANADA. Assortment of $200 Commemoratives, 1990-2012. CHOICE BRILLIANT PROOF. 21 pieces in lot. ...Second set, 2002-2012: Fr-57; Fr-64; Fr-70; Fr-77; Fr-88; Fr-98; Fr-125; Fr-150; Fr-175, missing issues from 2008, 2010, and 2013. Total weight 359.94 g (11.57 troy oz) of 0.917 fine gold." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this one honoring the S.S. Beaver, launched 1835, wrecked 1888, the first steamship to work the Pacific coast of Canada. Sadly, we lack the obverse image of this coin.
Recorded mintage: 2,800.
Specification: 16 g, 0.917 fine gold.
